Ballet in Vienna, 2026/27
Vienna’s ballet company, the Vienna State Ballet, dances on the stage of the Vienna State Opera, sharing it with the opera through the September–June season. The company took its present form in 2005, when the ballets of the State Opera and the Volksoper were merged, and has carried the name Vienna State Ballet since 2010. Its repertoire runs from the great story ballets — Rudolf Nureyev’s Swan Lake has been danced here for decades — to new work by today’s leading choreographers.

Booking Ballet Tickets
Ballet at the State Opera is booked exactly like opera: you choose a seating category — Parkett, a box, Balkon or Galerie — and we reserve the best available seats within it, two seats always together unless stated otherwise. For ballet, an elevated, central view matters more than for opera, because the patterns of the corps de ballet read best from above: the central Balkon and Galerie are favourites of regulars, and our seating guide walks through every level. Tickets are collected from our office directly opposite the opera house, on the day of the performance or one day prior, or sent as e-tickets where available.
